It is crucial to understand our own
“bag” of true feelings and experiences so we don’t just drop our bag in
someone’s lap and expecting him or her to make sense of its contents. It is our
task to empty the bag on the floor, shuffle things around, sort out the
contents, and make sure we understand every item, how it got in the bag, where
it came from, its history, and its current purpose in our lives. Understanding
our baggage is fundamental to accessing a healthy change and transition
throughout the journey with ourselves and our relationships. Honest dialogue
can then begin as we open our bag without being insecure of its contents or our
feelings. Ridding ourselves of these insecurities will free us from our past
and help in the long term.
Many times in the process of
organizing the truth about our feelings, someone close is capable of observing
more truth in how we feel or how he or she feels about us. If this truth brings
a happier acceptance, then we should take the time, effort, and love to accept
it. We do not want to continue to tote around unhealthy truths about ourselves
or others in our “bag” and add unneeded pressure, thus affecting our rhythm and
flow through life. Heal, change, and grow, and with this positive
transformation, carry the bag of truth.
